Last week, I was fortunate to be part of the 2026-27 London Public Library Creative Age Kick Off in London Ontario. 7 different artist-educators will develop and design programs and events in library branches to meet the creative interests and needs of adults 50+.
Years ago, our volunteers noted that many older adults had stopped attending creative arts education programs and events at core area museums, theatres and galleries due to a number of barriers and inconveniences. We worked hard to develop a network of instructors and programmers who would de-centralize quality creative arts programming to reach more people closer to “home”
This year our efforts have paid off. We now have affordable and accessible creative aging programs in all quadrants of the community supported by the public library and neighbourhood branches. Thanks to all of the talented and committed artist educators.
