Age and Creation: A Practice Journal for Creative Aging

Edited by Colina Maxwell

Age and Creation is an open-source interdisciplinary practice journal to provide new tools and techniques to artists and others working in-community to support healthy and successful aging.

Originally from Toronto, Colina Maxwell moved to Hamilton Ontario 14 years ago. Maxwell is a visual artist and co-founder of Centre3 for Print and Media Arts, a not-for-profit charitable artists-run centre on James Street North in downtown Hamilton. The centre has helped fuel a growing arts community in Hamilton with Maxwell as the Executive Director.

Now retired from that position, Colina is a practicing visual artist using predominately print media and, of late, digital and media arts. Her work is politically charged, teasing out tensions between the impact of people on urban and rural landscapes or exploring sex/gender division of labour and the ideologies of femininity and masculinity. Formally trained in visual arts, print media, art history, and English Literature; BA in Art History and English Literature (University of Toronto); Visual Arts (University of Toronto, Sheridan College joint program, with a summer at the Glasgow School of Art); Print Media (Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts); Ontario College of Art & Design.

Colina is committed to breaking down barriers and engaging a greater community in contemporary visual and media arts.
