Canadian decorative and folk artists create artwork that is utilitarian, decorative and high quality, including jewelry, woven art, carved figures, recycled metal art, portraits in paint and sculpture as well as unique handmade artifacts of various materials. The regional uniqueness is the essence of local folk artwork and very collectible. New groups of practicing folk artists are keeping the local art and craft alive and springing up all across the country.

Kathy Smith will be presenting a new series of workshops on Thursdays in January 2019 from 1pm to 3:30pm. We’ll study some of our own regional artists such as Lucy Ogletree and Audrey Cooper and we’ll try decorative/folkloric techniques and explore some contemporary or Funky Folk Art Fusion. No previous art/painting experience necessary. You will work on pieces at home and in the studio. Join us for lunch and find out more!
