Weekend cookin’

Every Sunday you can find me in my kitchen testing recipes and products for our FREE Creative Retirement Planning workshops and discussion groups.

Sandra Adkin (Century 21 Real Estate) and I have been organizing these sessions for a few years now.

Sandra covers off the topic of housing – downsizing, selling, buy or lease and moving. I address lifestyle and travel.

One of the interests of those who are transitioning from full-time employment to full-time leisure is budgeting. With retirement now projected to last from twenty to even thirty years, we can safely say there is a massive change in the way we view our lifestyle choices and spending habits.

Years ago, retirement was seen as the time of life when people stopped their daily 9 to 5 grind and replaced it with a life of endless relaxation. That model is disappearing. Most of us want to stay healthy and engaged both our physical, financial and mental well-being. We don’t want to be bored.

I encourage people to Test Drive Your Retirement Income. Some worry about living a long time on a fixed income. They realize they’ve been addicted to shopping or spending money. I confess that I have spent far too much time in the Dollar Store. When anxieties surface, we have an opportunities for realistic problem solving.

A current and challenging pilot project is creating recipes for healthy and delicious meals on a food budget of $240 for 4 weeks or $60 per week (single person.)   With the help of Marlene Cornelis blog’  – I’m having fun and learning a lot. URBAN COTTAGE LIFE
