On Friday May 26th, volunteers held an Open House for the new Creative Age Arts Studio at the Dorchester Lions Senior Centre in Thames Centre (pop. 13,000).
Through community-based art and creativity programs, the goal is to support creative, healthy and independent lifestyles for local older adults with a special outreach to those who are single, widowed or live on fixed income and at risk of isolation and depression due to reduced social interaction.
Local and regional artists will organize workshops in the bright, new space.
Intuitive Painting Workshops will start in September – led by Kathy Smith of the Creative Age London Network and funded by the New Horizons Program for Seniors.
The Creative Age Art Studio set up and Open House was co sponsored by Dorchester Seniors Centre and local volunteers with funding provided by New Horizons for Seniors.
